Eneo Cameroon Supports the Education of Indigenous Communities in the South Region of Cameroon

School supplies donated to Government School Bidou 1 in Ocean Division

“ My parents don’t have money to buy me school supplies. Today, I received exercise books and textbooks. They will enable me learn better at home and do my homework. I believe that with this donation from Eneo Cameroon, I will pass my FSLC,”declared Assembe Marie, a Class 6 pupil.

True to its commitment to support local indigenous communities in their organisation, education and empowerment, Eneo Cameroon is continuing its Corporate Social Responsibility activities mainly through the donation of school supplies to indigenous Bakola and Bagyeli children enrolled at Government School Bidou 1 and the signing of a Partnership Agreement with the Foundation for Environment and Development in Cameroon (FEDEC).

This double ceremony is part of a wider set of Corporate Social Responsibility actions, notably support for the education of children from vulnerable and underprivileged communities. The goal of this gesture from Eneo is to help promote fairness and equal chances for all children, by enabling them enjoy their right to education, which is an indispensable condition for them to have a better future. “The school supplies you are receiving today are overall estimated at over 05 million CFA Francs. They include textbooks, exercise books, slates, pens, boxes of chalk, rulers, pencils, and school bags among others etc. These items will considerably improve the conditions in which you, our beneficiaries, learn,” explained Amine Homman Ludiye, General Manager of Eneo Cameroon

This action is part of the Corporate Responsibility commitments Eneo has voluntarily been honouring for close to ten years now with respect to FEDEC. The collaboration between Eneo and FEDEC solemnly starts with the signing of this partnership agreement. “The agreement we have signed with Eneo will lend additional support to what we already do.  We are proud that this agreement, which is intended to be long term with Eneo, has been signed. As part of its social initiatives, FEDEC supports the socio-economic development of vulnerable indigenous communities in the areas of health, agriculture, citizenship and income-generating activities, stated Réne BILIOK, FEDEC Board Chair.  

Eneo Cameroon is planning to become a leading CSR company in Cameroon while developing its business operations and contributing at the same to the social and economic well-being of the communities it serves. The ceremony was attended by the Senior Divisional Officer for Ocean Division, the local mayor and the FAO representative in Cameroon.
