Transport line Bekoko-Nkongsamba: acceleration of the works for a return to normal on Wenesday, January 13th at the latest
Following the incident that occurred on Monday 11 January 2015 on the 90 KV Bekoko- Nkongsamba-Bamenda transmission line, an Eneo Cameroon technical team went down to the fault zone and observed that the short-circuit was triggered by the action of a person hard by on the vegetation.
“A villager burnt a tree that fell on the line conductor between towers 189 and 190. The conductor was ripped off. One end of the latter got into contact with part of tower 189 and caused it to melt down. The other end came off the tower 190,” maintains Mr Issiaka Mgboron, the head of the intervention team.
Replacement works on the broken section of the conductor are ongoing. The speeding up of works should allow for a return to electricity supply in the West and North-West on Wednesday evening.
However, Eneo Cameroon informs its customers that after Wednesday, the resumption of works on the reinforcement of the Bassa-Deido transmission line, which will be executed for two weeks, is going to lead once more to disruptions of electricity supply in the two regions.
Eneo hereby urges its customers to visit its website, www.eneocameroon.cm or call the Customer Care Service at 8010 for more information on scheduled works and their impact in each region and each town.
