Two new power transformers at Oyomabang

Eneo Cameroon successfully connected on 08 and 09 July 2017 two new power transformers of 35 Mega Volt Amperes (MVA) capacity each at the Oyomabang interconnection substation;

a major facility in the supply of electricity in Yaounde as well as the Centre and South Regions. This 210 MVA station transits all the energy provided to these regions. The new transformers add to the first one commissioned on 18 August 2016, thereby improving the substation’s efficiency from 80 à 100%. As a result, there is extra availability of energy that can move up 35 MW

Furthermore, the set of new transformers reinforces the safety of the substation and the network. They thus reduce the risk of a high impact incident occurring.

The purchase of these new equipment costs CFA 1.8 billion and falls within the execution of the investment program that Eneo submitted to Government.

This investment program aims mainly at replacing, refurbishing and extending energy transmission and distribution facilities.

In Yaounde, efforts to stabilize and reinforce transmission and distribution networks have allowed for a drop of 10% in unserved energy due to transmission incidents as against 2016; and a reduction of 29% in unserved energy from June 2016 to June 2017.
