Press release NO. 2 from ENEO: Report submitted by sworn expert following the death of a baby in an incubator at the Nkongsamba Regional Hospital on 10 March, 2023

Eneo would like to once again express its heartfelt condolence to the family so deeply bereaved after their baby passed away in an incubator at the Nkongsamba Regional Hospital.

Following the first press release published on Saturday 11 March, 2023, this new statement relates to the findings of the expert investigation commissioned by the State Counsel for Moungo High Court.

As per the expert report prepared on 17 March 2023, by ASEN – a specialist consulting firm - these are the main findings:

  1. The incubator self-ignited after one of its electronic components malfunctioned;
  2. No anomaly likely to cause this incident and triggered both by the quality of power supply and Eneo Cameroon equipment was found;
  3. There were in fact disruptions on the Eneo network that day but neither hospital facilities nor the neighbourhood experienced a voltage surge/overvoltage. The incubator’s voltage regulator was not damaged and did not cause any breakdown in the protected equipment.

Other statements will follow as appropriate.
